Explanation
Project estimation is an essential early activity: you estimate size, effort, cost and schedule which then drives resource allocation, task scheduling and identifies potential risk areas (for example if the estimate is tight you know schedule risk is high). A good estimate gives a baseline for monitoring and control and helps communicate realistic expectations to stakeholders. Poor estimation leads to under-resourcing, missed deadlines and increased risk.
